13 päivää

Enää 13 päivää takaisin paluuseen. Aivan uskomatonta. Juuri sain viimeisen kouluraportin viimeisteltyä ja vietyä opettajan lokeroon. Enää ei ole yhtään luentoa. Ens viikolla on neljä koetta ja sitten on pakka lopullisesti kasassa ja valmiina paluuseen :)

Only 13 days before leaving for Finland. Unbelievable. I just finished my last school assignment and put it into teacher's mailbox. I have 0 lectures left. Next week I'll have 4 exams and then I'm done with the school here. So ready to go :)

Pari päivää sitten kävin täällä Otarussa paikallisessa kuuman lähteen kylpylässä kahden kiinalaisen vaihtarin kanssa. Vähän kuin uimahalli, mutta vesi on kuumaa lähdevettä ja altaaissa vettä on keskimäärin polveen tai puoleen reiteen. Vaikka Hoheikyon padolla olleessa onsenissa oli tosi hieno ulkoallas, oli tämä onsen Otarussa kyllä selkeästi monipuolisempi. Oli perusaltaita, osassa poretta ja osassa lattiaan muotoiltua selkänojaa. Oli jopa kylmäallas, joka tuli todella tarpeeseen kun meinasin pyörtyä puolessa välissä ylikuumenemiseen. Oli puulauteinen sauna, jossa ei voinut heittää löylyä, mutta lämpöä löytyi kivasti 80°C astetta. Kiukaan yläpuolella oli upotettu lasin alle televisio. Ei vastannut ihan mun ajatuksia saunassa rentoutumisesta, mutta maassa maan tavalla, niinhän se meni. Kylmäaltaan vieressä oli sähköallas. Sinne kun istui niin seinästä ei tullut hierova vesisuihku vaan pistelevä sähkövirta! Ei se kovin voimakas ollut mutta kuitenkin niin että kihelmöi kivasti ja lihakset nykivät tahdonalaisettomasti, erityisesti sormet ja ranteet :D Oli kyllä todella rentouttava kylpykokemus.

A couple of days ago I went to a hot spring spa here in Otaru with 2 chinese exchange students. It was like a swimming hall, except that the water was hot spring water and the water level just reached up to thighs. Even though the outdoor pool at Hoheikyo dam was really beautiful, this onsen here in Otaru was way more versatile with different type of pools. There were couple of ''basic'' pools and then a cold pool, a sauna and a pool with electricity in it. The cold pool was really good, I was almost passing out due to the overheating before I found it. I couldn't throw water to the stove in Sauna but it was okay, at least the temperature was quite right, 80 °C. There was a television in the sauna, not really my way of relaxation but ''when in Rome, do as the Romans do''. The electric pool was crazy. Instead of massaging water, you can imagine. It kind of felt ticklish and my muscles were moving without me moving them. Especially fingers. Anyways the whole experience was really relaxing.

Sää on ollut hyvä. Tuossa oikealla on ollut parkkipaikka. Siellä on tälläkin hetkellä pari skootteria haudattuna :D :D

Huomenna ois tarkotus käydä japanilaisen ystävän luona syömässä nabea (japanilainen vihannes- , sieni- ja lihakeitto saviruukussa), vähän kuin läksiäisiä viettämässä. Lauantaina sitten mennään suomitiimillä toiseen kuumalähdekylpylään, joka on myös täällä Otarussa. Toinen kiinalaisista vinkkas, että se ois parempi kun tämä missä just oltiin ja vielä hieman isompi.

Tomorrow I intend to go to visit my Japanese friend and eat nabe together. Nabe is a Japanese dish, hot soup in a pot with vegetables, mushrooms and meat. On Saturday I'm going to another onsen here in Otaru with team Finland :) One of the chinese students told that it would be even bigger than this previous one and a bit better.

Ens viikolla tosiaan on kokeet ja sen jälkeisenä sunnuntaina, joka onkin viimeinen täällä Japanissa, käydään seminaariryhmän kanssa laskettelemassa! Siitä sitten puoleen viikkoa ja onkin lennot Suomeen! Hasta la vista!

Next week we will have the exams. After that on Sunday I'm planning to go to skiing with my seminar group. The Wednesday after that Sunday I'm finally coming home! Hasta la vista!

Takaisinpaluu

Hurjan nopeaa on aika juossut. Enää alle kuukausi Suomeen paluuseen! Ihanaa taas päästä kotiin mutta haikeaa jättää tänne nämä kaikki. Puolivuotta ei loppujenlopuksi oo mikään valtavan pitkä aika. Lennot Suomeen on jo hommattu mutta kaikenlaista pientä asiaa riittää huoneen lopputarkastuksesta pankkitilin sulkemiseen, puhelin sopimuksen ja vakuutuksen irtisanomiseen. En tajunnutkaan että lähtemisen aloitus alkaa jo.

The time here in Otaru has passed so quickly. It is less than A month for the return. It is lovely to go back home again but at the same time it feels sad to leave all these people and things here. A Half a year isn’t that long anyways. The flights back Finland have been fixed but there are still lot small things to do before departure; closing bank account, stopping direct debits, terminating contracts. I didn’t realize that starting to leave starts already.

Aika täällä Japanissa on mennyt kaikenlaista uutta kokiessa. Oon syönyt kaikenlaista merenelävää. Ehkä mielenkiintoisin niistä on seepia, sellaista kameleontti nilviäinen. Siitä on video alla. Oon oppinut käyttämään kaasuliettä, enkä oo tukehduttanut itseäni kaasuun, vaikka alussa se hieman huolestutti :D Oon elänyt huoneessa jossa aamuisin on lämmintä 1-3 astetta ja muuten keskilämpötila 12 astetta, karaisee sekä kehoa että luonnetta!

The time here in Japan has passed by experiencing new things. I have eaten more sea food than during my whole life. The most interesting was probably the cuttlefish, that actually isn't a fish at all. You can check that video below. I have learnt to use gas stove and I haven't smothered myself with gas. It was a fear that i had in the beginning :D I have lived in a room, which average temperature is 1-3 degrees on mornings and 12 degrees when I turn the gas heater on. It makes the body and soul stronger :D

Pankissa käytiin peruuttamassa suoraveloitukset, ettei käy niin että pankkitilin suljettua ois vielä jollakin saatavia, eli maksetaan viimeiset käteisellä. No, pankkivirkailija totes, että suoraveloitusta ei voi keskeyttää. Kyllähän se loppujen lopulta onnistu vaan meidän pitäs käydä joka paikassa erikseen, vakuutus- kaasu- sähkö- ja vesiyhtiöillä itse selvittämässä se, mutta ei. Puhelin kierros niille ja koulun toimistolle, sekä pari keskustelua ja selvis että onkin jokin väärinymmärrys nyt sattunut tulkin kanssa. Mulla piti vaan täyttää yks lappu ja leimata tietenki (JES :D) mutta kaverilla oli kaikkialle suoraveloitukset niin joutu jokaiseen niistä omat lappuset täytteleen. Ei käyny kateeksi :D

We went to bank to cut off the direct debit. Oh no. The officer told us that we are not able to do so. We should go to every company (gas, water, insurance and electricity) and deal with it case by case. No way. After making some calls, our interpreter realized that there has been some misunderstandings. I just needed to fill one paper and of course stamp it. My friend had done more direct debit contracts so she needed to fill 4 of them. I didn't envy her :D 

Postissa käytiin ostaan pahvilaatikot, että saadaan osa tavaroista Suomeen. Ei taida mahtua enää tavarat siihen 20 kiloon, vaikka paljon menee täällä kiertoon ja roskiin.

We went to post office to buy cardboard boxes, so that we can send some of the stuff home. The 20 kilograms isn't enough to bring all the stuff back even though i'm recycling and throwing lot of stuff away.

Kotimatka Tokiosta Otaruun alkoi aikaisin aamulla. Piti herätä puoli neljältä, mikä oli melko rankkaa. Lentomatka sujui nopeen sukkia neuloessa ja radiota kuunnellessa. Päivällä sitten pitikin ottaa neljän tunnin päikkärit selvitäkseni kamalasta matkustusväsymyksestä.

The way back home from Tokyo to Otaru began early in the morning. We had to wake up at 3:30. It was pretty tough. The flight went fast while listening to radio and knitting socks. Afterwards I needed to take nap of four hours to survive that ''jet lag'' ;D

Viimeinen lomapäivä meni hienosti. Sain yllättäen kutsun mukaan laskettelemaan. Mikä ettei!  Hieno reissu olikin. Tahdon ehdottomasti uudestaan ennen kuin helmikuun puolivälissä koittaa paluu Suomeen.

The last day of the holiday was wonderful. I got an invitation for a skiing trip. And what an awesome trip it was! I want definitely go again before I need to leave for Finland in the middle of February.

En ollutkaan tajunnut kuin paljon lunta Otaruun oli Tokiossa ollessa kerennyt kertyä lunta! Palteet tien ja kävelytien välissä oli paikon jopa 3 metriä! Ihan joutuivat traktorilla ja kuorma-autolla viemään lunta pois!

I hadn't realized how much it had snowed in Otaru since I went to Tokyo. In some parts between road and road for pedestrians there was 2 meters of snow, somewhere even 3 meters, so that I couldn't see cars passing by. They even used tractors and trucks to take snow away.

Viimeinen lomapäivä oli myös japanilainen ''coming of age'' lomapäivä, jolloin juhlitaan kaikkia 20 vuotta täyttäneitä. 20 vuotta on täällä täysi-ikäisyyden raja.

The last day of the holiday was also a Japanese ''coming of age'' celebration day, when those who became 20 are celebrated. 20 years is considered to be an adult here in Japan.

Uutta vuotta

Uudenvuodenaatto vietettiin Heidin kans tässä naapurissa. Voi miten herttaisia olivatkaan. Pöytä oli täynnä japanilaisia ruokia. Lähtiessä vielä laittoivat mukaan kassin, joka oli täynnä mandariineja! Tarjoutuivat vielä käyttämään paikallisella temppelillä, mikä on japanilainen tapa uutenavuotena.

I spent New Years Eve with Heidi at our neighbors. Oh how lovely they were! The table was full of Japanese foods and when we were leaving they gave as a bag full of mandarins. They offered to bring us to the local shrine, which is a Japanese new year tradition.

Tunnelma temppelillä oli lämmin. Ilma kylläkin oli viileä, mutta alueelle oli sytytetty nuotioita ja tulia. Puoli kahdentoista maissa alueella ei ollut vielä paljon porukkaa, mutta ihmisiä tuli kyllä nopeaa tahtia paikan täytöksi. Tasan keskiyöllä temppelillä soitettiin rumpua 108 kertaa.

The atmosphere at the shrine was warm and welcoming. The weather was bit cold but there were bonfires in the shrine area. Half past eleven there were not so many people but in a matter of minutes the place started to get crowded. In the midnight drums were played exactly 108 times.

Eilen mentiin Disneylandiin. Paikka oli tosi hieno ja valtava. Ainut iso miinus oli se, että laitteita oli niin suurelle joukolle ihmisiä niin vähän, että pahimmillaan jonotusaika oli yli 2 tuntia. Aivan hullua!

Yesterday we went to Disneyland. The place was really beautiful and the size of it was huge! There was on really big minus. There were so less attractions for so huge number of people that waiting might last more than 2 hours. That's crazy!
